For a fast, easy and mess-free way to get perfectly cooked hot dogs, look no further than this Air Fryer Hot Dogs recipe!
When you air fry, there is no need to heat up a grill, boil water or heat up oil that splatters over your stove.
It’s great for those who love to grill but have no outdoor space, or simply anyone looking for a quick and delicious meal that their whole family will love.
Hot Dogs
There are multiple versions of these rolled meat. They are typically made from either pork or beef, however this recipe will work just as well with all different varieties including chicken, turkey or even vegetarian and vegan substitutes.
I find that the beef franks we get from Sam’s Club has a natural casing, which gives a nice snap when you bite into them, but feel free to use whatever variety or brand you like best.
To make sure they are perfectly cooked all the way through, you will want to turn the hot dogs once, depending on the air fryer you have. But to do this you can simply give the basket a shake and let gravity take care of the rest.
If you are concerned about your hot dogs bursting during cooking, you can cut a few slices diagonally across the meat before you put them in the basket though this step may not be necessary.
Buns
There are plenty of hot dog buns readily available to purchase, with the best having a soft and fluffy texture that will soak up your favorite condiments and toppings but firm enough to hold together.
Again, whichever buns you like best will work just fine when cooking hot dogs in the air fryer.
If you like your hot dog buns toasted, the air fryer can take care of that too! You can also air fry the beef franks in the buns by simply placing them back to be air fried for another 2 minutes to heat them and crisp them up a little.
Just remember if you do want to toast the buns to get ones small enough to fit in your air fryer!
Serving Suggestions
The possibilities are endless when it comes to toppings for your Air Fryer beef franks. You can serve them simply with ketchup and mustard, add crispy fried onions, mozzarella sticks, spicy jalapeños or come up with your own fun flavor combinations.
If you want to add cheese to your hot dog, you could even put it on at the same time as your buns to let it melt in the machine.
Hot dogs are great on their own, but if you want to serve them as a meal you can have them alongside fries such as this sweet potato fries, or this yuca fries, Corn on the cob, coleslaw or pikliz, potato salad or baked beans.
If you happen to have any hot dogs leftover, you can fry them up in a potato hash or breakfast potatoes, throw them into some fried rice or add to some spaghetti, like this Haitian Spaghetti and tomato sauce.
