Meet the Flavor-Fueled Duo Behind the Magic

Hi! We’re AJ and Mirlene – the husband-and-wife duo behind Savory Thoughts. My husband and I are the passionate foodies, recipe testers, and spice-obsessed minds behind this Haitian food blog.

I earned my BA from Columbia Southern University, and my husband is a proud grad of Miami University in Ohiowith an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Together, we turned our love of cooking, culture, and community into a flavorful online destination.

From Our Kitchen to the Spotlight

Our recipes have been proudly featured on The Pioneer Woman, Food52, Good Morning America, and Country Living—a true honor that reminds us just how powerful a home-cooked meal can be.

A Passion for Haitian Food & Flavor

Our love for food runs deep—it’s our language, our comfort, and our joy. We find so much happiness in creating recipes that bring people together, especially dishes that celebrate our Haitian heritage.

Developing and sharing these recipes isn’t just a passion—it’s a way to keep our culture alive, honor our roots, and introduce others to the bold, vibrant flavors we grew up on.
