Salmon Steak Recipe
Salmon is our go-to source for protein and easy meal. It is versatile, simple, and easy fish to cook.
You can be as creative as you like when it comes to cooking salmon.
What Is Salmon Steak?
If you are not familiar with salmon steak, it is cut differently than salmon fillet. The fish is cut upright to the spine and cutting through the bone.
You may also get the boneless steak as well. The salmon is cut in various thickness. However, there is no difference in flavor.
The fish is still high in omega-3 fatty acids, protein, vitamin B, and potassium.
Ingredients
With this recipe, you get the best of both worlds. You get an easy fish recipe that’s prepared in less than 30 minutes, and you will enjoy a recipe that’s inspired by Asian flavors.
Below are my ingredients for the best and easiest way to make air fryer salmon. You will not believe how flavorful this fish is and how moist it is. Without further ado, here are the ingredients:
- 2 Salmon steaks – I grew up eating salmon steaks, and when we moved to our town, I thought I would never see them again until I visited an Asian store nearby.
- 3 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce – I like that it helps to enhance the flavors of all of the other ingredients.
- 2 tbsp. Rice Vinegar – I like the light version.
- 3 tbsp. Garlic Paste – You may also use 4 garlic cloves, minced.
- 2 tbsp. Sesame Oil – a must if you in Asian cuisine, in my opinion.
- ½ tsp. Kosher Salt – to help balance out the other flavors.
- Garnishes –Sesame seeds. Optional.

After 15 minutes, open the basket and turn the salmon over and add the remaining marinade to the fish. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until your desired doneness.
6. Garnish: Garnish your salmon steaks with sesame seeds (optional) and serve warm with the preferred side.
Air Fryer Notes
- Unlike salmon fillet, some salmon steaks may contain small bones. If so be mindful when serving it to small children.
- Can I air bake the salmon steaks? Yes, follow the same steps and instead of air frying the salmon, bake the salmon on 400 degrees for no more than 20 minutes.
- Can you add the salmon steaks in foil prior to putting it in the air fryer? Yes! Cooking the salmon in the air fryer allow the salmon to come out so much crispier than it would in the oven. Place each salmon in individual foil. Add the marinating juice and seal. Place the foils in the air fryer and cook as advised. Be mindful that the salmon will not come out crispy as the steam will not allow it.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
It is truly your preference. Salmon steaks are much easier to prepare, whereas fillets require more work and handling. Salmon steaks cook better in one portion as fillets sometimes tend to fall apart.
To cook your salmon steak in the air fryer or oven, simply wash the steak. Pat dry. Season as desired or instructed in this recipe. Then cook to desired doneness.
This will require intense research as raw food can be harmful to your health. We strong recommend cooking your salmon and your food thoroughly prior to consuming it.
