Make my Spicy Chipotle Salmon Bowls if you’re craving something bold, flavorful, and satisfying without being complicated.
These bowls are everything I love about weeknight dinners—quick, balanced, colorful, and loaded with flavor thanks to my homemade spicy chipotle seasoning blend.
I make these bowls often when I want a hearty meal that doesn’t feel heavy.
Between the flaky salmon, the fresh avocado-tomato dressing, and the robust chipotle kick, it’s the kind of dish that makes you feel like you’ve treated yourself to something special—without spending hours in the kitchen.
Why I Love These Spicy Chipotle Salmon Bowls
There’s something unique about a meal that brings together spicy, smoky, tangy, and fresh all in one bite.
The salmon is rubbed with my Spicy Chipotle Seasoning Blend and a squeeze of lime juice before roasting or pan-searing. Then, it gets paired with rice spinach, and the most vibrant refreshing tomato-avocado dressing.
It’s the kind of balance I’m always looking for: protein + carbs + greens + healthy fats. Not only does it taste amazing, but it also fuels your body in the best way.
The Star Ingredients (and Easy Swaps)
One thing I’ve learned is that cooking is flexible. Don’t stress if you don’t have every single ingredient—here’s why I use what I use, and how you can swap things around if needed.
Salmon
- I use skinless salmon fillets (about 2 lbs. for 4 servings).
- You can swap with trout, cod, or even shrimp if that’s what you have on hand.
Spicy Chipotle Seasoning Blend
- This seasoning is smoky, spicy, and just a little sweet. It makes salmon sing.
- If you don’t have my blend yet, you can get the Spicy Chipotle Seasoning Blend here, or you can use a mix of smoked paprika, chili powder, and a few of your favorite spices to the mix.
Lime Juice
- A little lime juice keeps everything bright and balances the smoky spice.
- Lemon juice works in a pinch.
Dressing
- Tomatoes, avocado, parsley, Worcestershire, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and more of the chipotle seasoning—this combo is like a smoky salsa meets creamy guacamole.
- Swap parsley for cilantro or basil.
- No avocado? Try diced cucumber for crunch.
Rice + Spinach
- White rice is simple and cozy, but brown rice, quinoa, or even cauliflower rice are all great swaps.
- Spinach adds nutrients and color, but kale, arugula, or even shredded cabbage would work beautifully.
How to Make Spicy Chipotle Salmon Bowls

Notes
Pairing Ideas
I like keeping things simple with these bowls, but if you want to round out the meal, here are some easy sides and drinks to serve alongside:- Side salad with a light lemon vinaigrette. This Caesar salad works great.
- Roasted or boiled plantains or sweet potato fries for a little sweetness to balance the spice.
- Corn on the cob with butter and a sprinkle of chipotle seasoning.
- For drinks: frozen berry margarita if it’s one of those nights, a chilled glass of white wine, sparkling water with lime, or even this Haitian lemonade.
How to Store and Reheat
These bowls are amazing for meal prep!- Store: Keep the salmon, rice, and dressing separate in airtight containers. Salmon lasts about 3 days in the fridge, rice about 4 days, and the dressing up to 2 days (because of the avocado).
- Reheat: Warm the salmon and rice gently in the microwave or on the stovetop. Add the dressing fresh so it keeps its texture.
- Freeze? You can freeze the salmon and rice, but not the avocado dressing—it will get mushy.

Tips for the Best Salmon Bowls
- Don’t overcook the salmon. Pull it out as soon as it flakes easily. Salmon keeps cooking a bit after you take it off the heat.
- Chill the dressing a little. If you make it in advance and let it sit in the fridge, the flavors get even better.
- Mix up your base. Try serving the salmon and dressing over roasted sweet potatoes, couscous, or even warm naan bread if you’re in the mood for something different.
