These decadent air fryer Oreos are such a great treat. They are ready in less than 15 minutes, and you will achieve the same result as if they were deep-fried.
With only 3 ingredients, these air fryer Oreos will take you back to your favorite childhood fairs. And with the convenience of the air fryer, these air-fried Oreos are less “involved”, less fat, and fewer calories.
AIR FRYER OREOS
If you enjoyed the fair as a kid and maybe now with your own children, you could appreciate a good funnel cake or deep-fried Oreos.
They are ridiculously delicious and super easy to make.
Fried Oreos are fairly new. They were introduced back in 2001 by Charlie Boghosian, also known as “Chicken Charlie” or “The Man Who Fries Everything,” who made his mark at the LA County Fair. Boghosian is originally from Armenia.
At the time Boghosian introduced these delightful treats to the world, he was only 16 years old.
The original way to make these treats are to dip the Oreos in pancake batter, deep fry them, then drizzle chocolate syrup on top and finish them off with powdered sugar.
Since then, many variations have taken place, however, the ending result is always delicious.
YOU ONLY NEED 3 INGREDIENTS
Not much is needed to make these air fryer Oreos.
Either a homemade pancake batter or a store-bought puff pastry will work. If you are using the pancake batter, be mindful that it will become messy when placing them in the air fryer.
The preferred method is to use store-bought puff pastry. You will have less of a mess to clean up later.
The chosen Oreo flavor is completely up to you. We used the mint flavored Oreos, and the dark and white chocolate Oreos.
CAN I PUT OREOS IN THE AIR FRYER?
Yes, you sure can! These air fryer Oreos are very simple to make. Air frying them is also a better alternative to deep-frying them.
No need to worry about unnecessary mess and you will achieve the same results as if they were deep fried.
Deep frying the Oreos will give you the same soft filling with a flaky crispy texture on the outside.
ARE FRIED OREOS HEALTHY?
I definitely would not put them in the “healthy” category, but it does have less fat and calories as they are not being deep fried in a large amount of oil.
HOW DO YOU REHEAT AIR-FRIED OREOS?
If you happen to have leftover Air Fryer Oreos, you can place them back in the air fryer for no more than 5 minutes to reheat them at 350°F or until they are heated through.
You can also reheat them in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute at a time.
HOW LONG DO FRIED OREOS LAST?
The air-fried Oreos will last up to 24 hours at room temperature and will last up to 3 days if stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container. However, they do not freeze well. The texture may become soggy when thawed out.
WHY DOES THIS METHOD WORK?
When you air fry your Oreos, it will give you the same warm feeling you often feel as if they were purchased at the fair.
With minimal work and effort, they make a great snack to travel with.
They are quick and easy to make.
The entire family can pitch in and help.
HOW TO MAKE FRIED OREOS IN THE AIR FRYER
On a clean surface or cutting board, lightly dust the board or surface with about 1 Tablespoon of all-purpose flour.
Next, place the puff pastry on the board. Using a rolling pin, gently roll out the puff pastry.
Cut the pastry into 9 squares. Take one Oreo and place it in the center of the puff pastry.
Wrap the dough around the cookie to completely cover it and be sure to press down gently on the seams and seal the cookies. This will prevent the dough from breaking apart and exposing the cookie.
Place the covered cookie in the air fryer and repeat the process with the remaining cookies.
Air fryer for up to 10 minutes or until golden at 350°F. Be sure to check the cookies periodically as the heat may be different depending on the air fryer you have.
Once they are golden or the time is up, remove the cookies from the air fryer. Allow them to cool and sprinkle them with powdered sugar before serving.

Can you use crescent rolls instead? And would the time or temp have to change?
Mirlene says
Yes, you can use crescent rolls. The timer may change depending on the brand of crescent you have. I would recommend you keep a close eye on the cookies so they do not burn.
