You’ll love these soft Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls with homemade cream cheese frosting. They are warm, quick, and are totally delicious!
If you’re looking to save time in the morning and wake up to warm cinnamon roll goodness to enjoy with your cup of coffee, then these air fryer rolls are what you need.
As we patiently (not really) waited for our kitchen renovation to complete, our instant pot, electric skillet, and air fryer got some extra love as they were our main kitchen cooking gadgets to prepare dinner.
We’re talking about recipes like this salmon steak, or this firecracker chicken, and this blackened tilapia, along with this Instant Pot popcorn to name a few. We also used it to prepare this air fryer cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting.
Due to lack of countertops and space, the only thing we changed was using store-bought cinnamon rolls instead of preparing the dough ourselves.
Why does this recipe work?
The cream cheese frosting is creamy, thick, and holds well on cakes, bread, and fruits.
- Only need 4 ingredients are needed to make this frosting.
- No need to worry about flour and other baking ingredients as it only requires store-bought cinnamon rolls from the grocery store.
- The cinnamon rolls can be done in 8 minutes from start to finish!
- They can easily be reheated in the microwave the next day.
About these Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls
There is nothing more that screams HOME like this Cinnamon Rolls. Although we do not make them often, but when we do….you better believe we are enjoying every piece of it.
All you need is your favorite store bought cinnamon rolls and cook them in your air fryer. They are much quicker than baking them in the oven.
I recommend using the jumbo size rolls as the cream cheese frosting can be used to fill about 12-15 jumbo rolls.
How to make the Perfect Cream Cheese Frosting?
Not much is needed. It’s very simple. Of course, you’ll need the following listed below:
- 8-ounce cream cheese – we used a full 8 ounce because I wanted to have enough to last for days. So, the cream cheese frosting will fill about 12-15 jumbo rolls.
- Powder sugar
- Milk – you can use whole milk, 1 or 2%, or any milk of your choice.
After making the cream cheese frosting, you’ll find that it’s not overly sweetened. It has a smooth silky texture, it’s easily spread on breads, cakes, cupcakes, muffins, and fruits. You’ll also find that it’s not runny.
Using cream cheese spread and low-fat cream cheese will result in a runny frosting.
Be sure that the cream cheese is room temperature. This will help with mixing and provide that smooth silky texture.
Tips for making cinnamon rolls in the air fryer
- Not all air fryers are made the same. Some require you to preheat the machine prior to cooking in it, like this Crux air fryer.
- The cream cheese frosting can be stored in an airtight freezer-friendly container for up to a month.
- Spread the rolls apart for even cooking and also to allow the bread to spread/expand.
- Spraying the air fryer is not necessary as the rolls will not stick to the bottom of the basket.
- Depending on the air fryer you have, the temperature and cooking time may vary. I recommend working in 2-minute increments to avoid burning or overcooking the cinnamon rolls.
- When making the cream cheese frosting, be sure to use a block of cream cheese, not cream cheese spread.
