These air fryer mushrooms are garlicky, savory, and absolutely delicious, making them the perfect, healthy side dish to serve for dinner. They are also ready in under 15 minutes.

You will love this easy and delicious side dish that’s low carb and Keto approved! They are perfect over this Haitian Style White Rice.

These simple and juicy mushrooms take about 8-10 minutes to make, depending on your air fryer. You can pair them with this Haitian cornmeal, this Haitian chicken stew, or with thisdill rice for a complete meal.

We’ve previously shared mushroom recipes on this blog before, like this Haitian Black Rice which is a very popular dish in Haiti.

They are so tasty. They also serve elegantly as a side dish for a dinner party, special occasions, Easter – and if you pair them for Easter, pair the mushroom buttons with these lamb chops.

    Recipe Ingredients

Silky mushrooms tossed in pure goodness.

    • 8 Oz. (Pack) Mushrooms: For this air fryer mushrooms, we use used baby portobello mushrooms. However, feel free to use white button mushrooms, or any other fresh mushrooms.
    • Herbs: For herbs, we used parsley and basil. We encourage you to also experiment thyme, oregano, and cilantro.
    • Olive oil: We used extra virgin olive oil. Feel free to also use grapeseed oil or coconut oil.
    • Garlic: The garlic will intensify the flavor of the herbs and mushrooms.

Mushrooms unfortunately are split in half when it comes to debating how people feel about them. Although they are fungi, they are often refer to as vegetables or “meat replacement”.

They are low in calories. They’re rich in antioxidants to prevent cancer and inflammation. They are fat and cholesterol-free.

Normally, these garlic mushrooms are cooked over the stove, however, you will love this air fryer twist and the simple ingredients we used to prepare them!

    How to clean mushrooms?

Place the mushrooms in a suitable bowl. Lightly rinse them under cold water. Be sure to not over soak the mushrooms as you do not want them to absorb all of the water. Use a paper towel to pat dry the mushrooms.

You may also use a damp paper towel to clean the mushrooms one by one to remove any dirt.

How to make garlic mushrooms in the air fryer?

seasoned mushrooms in air fryer tray
    • To prepare this easy air fryer mushrooms recipe, we recommend that you cut the mushrooms in half. Then clean the mushrooms in cold water to remove any dirt or debris. When finished, pat the mushroom with a dry clean paper towel or kitchen towel.
    • Transfer the mushrooms to a clean bowl, and add in the olive oil, salt and pepper, garlic, and herbs. Toss well to combine.
    • Transfer the mushrooms to an air fryer basket, try, or dish. Air fry at 370 degrees F for 8-10 minutes (depending on the air fryer). When the timer goes off, serve warm as a side and enjoy.

Topped with fresh parsley and serve warm as a side.

How Do I store Air Fryer Mushrooms?

Storing your leftover air fryer mushrooms is very simple! All you need to do is refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container, and enjoy it throughout the week with other dishes as it will stay fresh for up to a week.

We do not recommend that you freeze the mushrooms as they tend to hold liquid, and the mushrooms will become soggy and will loose their texture if frozen.

The mushrooms will last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Which Mushrooms Work Best For Air-Fried Mushrooms?

We recommend Portobello mushrooms, but you can also use button mushrooms, cremini mushrooms, brown mushrooms, or any fresh mushrooms

What is the healthiest way to fry mushrooms?

The healthiest way to fry mushroom is to use an air fryer. The air fryer requires little to no oil.

    Should you wash mushrooms?

Yes, you should always wash your mushrooms or any vegetable before consuming it. All mushrooms should be cleaned under water then pat dry with a cleaned pepper towel or kitchen cloth towel.

    Mushroom Tips

    • You CAN use fresh herbs in this recipe!Thyme, fresh sage, rosemary, and basil works in this recipe as well.
    • Mushroom Type: I recommend using mushrooms that are the same size to ensure even cooking. We also used baby portobello mushrooms, but you can use whichever mushrooms you’d like.
    • Be sure to clean the mushrooms prior to cooking them. This will help prevent sliminess.
    • Feel free to use lemon juice or lime juice to brighten up your air fryer mushrooms. If you do not like any of the options, you may also use 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Or feel free to leave them out.

    Recipe Variations

There are so many ways to prepare and serve these garlic air fryer mushrooms. Here are just a few of our favorite ways to cook them:

    • Add Acidity. You can also use a premium glaze, which is thicker than the traditional balsamic vinegar. It has a thick consistency and balanced sweetness with tart balsamic flavor. It’s great to drizzle over any dish from fish, vegetables, cheese, desserts, fruits, poultry.
    • Use a variety of mushrooms. While this recipe will work with just baby portobello mushrooms, we recommend seeking out a mix of mushroom varieties. This will keep the dish fun and will also introduce you other types of mushrooms.
    • Allow the mushrooms to cook. Typically, when air frying food, it’s always best to check them often to avoid burning. However, this case is different when it comes to mushrooms. Allow them to cook without disturbance for best results.
    • Add Color. Cook your air fryer mushrooms with carrots, sweet bell peppers, onions, and zucchini or squash.

I loved making and savoring the mushrooms. What a treat! This will be a go to method for me. I went ahead and made you Haitian Cornmeal with the spinach and tomato also. That’s right up my alley! As a Cuban we have a lot of crossover but I always enjoy trying new flavors and enhancing my palate!

      Thank you so much!:)
