The planet has plenty vegetables, meat, fruits, and basically all sorts of food that starts with B for us to discover and learn about. It’s so amazing to see how many foods we can name that starts with the letter B!
Let’s open our minds and think of the foods we love and once loved, help expand our knowledge with this catalogue of food that starts with B.

This brightly coloured root vegetable is not only eye-catching but incredibly nutritious. They are a great source of fiber as well as a long list of vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, potassium and iron.
Both the leaves and root may be eaten, and the root can be prepared in a number of ways from being boiled or roasted to pickled or simply eaten raw.
Though beetroot comes in a range of colours, the purple variety is the most commonly found, and is even used as a food colouring thanks to its vibrant violet hue.

You can get several different varieties of bean curd, including silken, soft and firm, with each kind being suited to different types of dishes.
Bean curd is highly versatile as it can easily take on different flavors and can also be cooked in many different ways, from blended into a smooth chocolate mousse to deep fried and smothered in sauce.
Bean curd is naturally low in calories but high in protein and iron, making it a great go-to option for those who don’t eat meat.
These medium-size beans are native to Africa, and were given their name thanks to the distinctive black spot found at their centers.
Black-eyed peas (also known as black-eyed beans) are highly nutritious, packed full of fiber, potassium and iron but low in fat and sodium.
Black-eyed peas are frequently used in cuisines from all over the world, though they are most commonly associated with dishes from the Southern United States and the Caribbean islands.
With a slightly nutty flavor and a creamy texture, they often feature as a tasty side dish or are used as an ingredient in various soups and stews.

This healthy whole grain is made from dried, cracked wheat. Bulgur wheat is actually already partially cooked, meaning that it can be on the table in minutes, but it also comes with a whole host of health benefits.
A single serving provides over 30% of the daily recommended allowance of fiber, and as it is minimally processed it has a high nutritional value.
Bulgur wheat is a popular ingredient in many Middle Eastern recipes, most notably tabbouleh, but it can be used as a replacement for rice, couscous or quinoa in almost any dish.
It can also be a great binder for things like vegetarian patties or croquettes.

Traditionally, buttermilk was simply the liquid left behind after butter had been churned and the liquid had been left to ferment. However, these days the process is simulated to create the cultured buttermilk that you’ll find on the supermarket shelves.
It’s also possible to make your own buttermilk at home by adding lemon juice or vinegar to regular milk.
With a creamy texture and a slightly tangy flavor, buttermilk is known for lending cakes a moist, tender crumb and tenderizing meat so it melts in the mouth. You’ll mostly find buttermilk in recipes for baked goods, pancakes, and buttermilk fried chicken, though this versatile ingredient has plenty of other uses.
Basil is an excellent source of vitamin K, manganese, iron, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

Blue cheese can be recognized by the signature blue ‘veins’ that run through it, made by the addition of mould during the manufacturing process.

Blue cheese tends to divide opinion. While some people love the stuff, others just can’t stand it. However, if you are a fan then it not only makes a great addition to cheese boards but also as an ingredient in many pasta, soup and casserole recipes.
From a $3 burger to a $100 steak, beef is the name for any meat derived from cattle. With so many different cuts available, the options when it comes to beef are seemingly endless.
It is also a staple of many diets around the world, accounting for around 25% of the globe’s meat production.
Beef is high in vitamins and minerals and is also one of the most complete sources of dietary protein, making it a popular choice for athletes or those who are looking to increase muscle mass.
However, as a red meat, beef has more saturated fat than chicken, fish and vegetable proteins. Naturally, the more processed a beef product is, the fewer health benefits it will have.

As the name suggests, these are the shoots of the bamboo tree (which is actually a kind of grass). They are found pretty much exclusively in Asian cuisine, where bamboo shoots are used as vegetable in stir fries, stews and broths.
They are sold fresh, dried and canned, with a crunchy, crisp texture and a slightly bitter flavor not dissimilar to water chestnuts.
Bamboo shoots are known as an incredibly healthy food, with a balance of essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals including potassium, zinc, riboflavin, iron and more.
With such high nutritional value, they boast a number of health benefits and have even been said to lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
When we think of food that starts with B, buns immediately came to mind. By far this is our favorite milk bun recipe ever, and you can make them in the air fryer or in the oven!

Barley had to make the list with our food that starts with B list. If you are not familiar with barley, it is a hardy cereal. It is mainly used in brewing and stockfeed. It also has coarse bristles extending from the ears.
Barley is rich in vitamins, minerals and other beneficial plant compounds. Barley may reduce hunger and promote feelings of fullness. It is filled with fiber which can boost your intestinal health.
Barley may also help prevent gallstones and lower your cholesterol levels.
