Easy Spinach Dip
You can use frozen or fresh spinach to make this creamed spinach. A few simple ingredients are all it takes to make this easy, delicious side dish! There’s no need for complicated ingredients when it comes to this 20 minutes appetizer dish.
It is a great choice for cheese lovers such as myself – and you too! It is better than the store-bought version. The sauce is made to your liking. It is also gluten-free, as I have used cornstarch as a thickening agent instead of all-purpose flour.
Why this recipe works
- Double the amount of spinach if using fresh ones.
- Using frozen spinach will cut down the time it takes to make this dish.
- The use of different cheeses, as well as cream cheese, gives the dish a flavorful thick creamy texture.
- Heavy cream gives the dip a velvety smooth finish.
How to make this Keto spinach dip with cream cheese
Follow the steps in the recipe card to make this dip perfectly each time. Below is a quick overview.
When ready to make the dip, gather the ingredients.
- Mix together the cornstarch and cream together (you can use milk too) and set it aside. Then, we proceed by melting the butter in a pot over medium heat.
- Sauté the garlic and onions until fragrant. Then add the cream cheese. Once melted, slowly add the cream (or milk) mixture while whisking.
- Add the spinach, and season with salt and pepper. Add the cayenne pepper, and mozzarella cheese. Topped with grated parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
Tips for best results
- Not sure which cheese to use? No problem, this recipe works well with almost any cheese. Simply substitute the mentioned cheese with the cheese of your choice.
- Don’t want to use fresh garlic? No problem, garlic powder will also work. If you are not a fan of garlic, simply omit it from the recipe.
- Use Fresh Chopped Spinach in place of frozen if you prefer. I do it by chopping baby spinach in batches in a food processor.
