For The Coating
2Tbsp.Cornstarch
1CupAll-Purpose Flour
For The Sauce
1Tbsp.Red Pepper Flakes
¼CupRed Bell PeppersSliced
2Tbsp.Olive Oil
¼CupChopped Onions
1Tbsp.Apple Cider Vinegar
Instructions
Frying The Haitian Griot / Fried Jackfruit
Remove the jackfruit from the can, drain the liquid. Then transfer to a bowl.
Add the Haitian Seasoning. Mix well.
Then add the remaining ingredients. Mix well to combine, cover, and marinate for at least 30 minutes. The longer it marinates, the better.
In a separate bowl, mix together the cornstarch and flour. Set aside. Uncover the meat and coat the in the flour mixture on all sides. Heat the oil to 400°
Using a webspoon, transfer the meat to the oil carefully. Avoid splatter so you do not get burn.
Deep fried to golden perfection. Remove the vegan pork from the oil when fully cooked to a paper toweled plate and set aside.
Optional Sauce For Coating
Using medium size bowl, add the peppers, oil, green onions, and vinegar.
Mix well. Then pour over the Vegan pork/griot.
Toss to combine. Serve as an appetizer. Enjoy!
