You can easily serve these salmon patties with so many different toppings and sides, and they are especially great if topped with this Shito pepper sauce to add some extra heat.
Why Canned Salmon?
Although this may not be the premier choice when it comes to making salmon cakes.
But canned salmon is a great economical option as they are easily available at the super market, and has a longer shelf life.
You can certainly use fresh salmon, if preferred. However, be sure to cook the salmon longer on both sides as it is raw.
Ingredients
These salmon patties are easy to make with very little effort, and are perfect for a quick easy dinner. You do not need a laundry list of ingredients. All you’ll need are the following listed below:
- 2 – 14 oz. cans Pink Salmon drained; we used the Starkist brand.
- Juice from one canned salmon.
- 3large eggs beaten, the eggs will help bind the salmon together.
- 1 dried or fresh parsley chopped.
- 1 rosemary leaves dried.
- 1 Dijon mustard.
- ½cup all-purpose flour.
- olive oilfor frying, as needed.
Optional Ingredients:
- ¼cup onions, chopped.
- 1 fresh lime juice to add freshness to the salmon.
Best Salmon To Use
Although fresh salmon is always the best option when it comes to making salmon burgers; however, to keep it economically friendly we recommend the following canned salmon listed below.
- Starkist Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon: Pink salmon is generally cheaper, and also comes in low sodium as swell. The sauce is not overly seasoned which makes it easily adaptable when creating your own burger. The mean is chunky, which is why we recommend mashing the salmon with a potato masher.
- Alternatively, you can also use fresh salmon. Be mindful using fresh salmon will result in longer cooking time and will require a little more handling.
